    • Experience working with persons with multiple disabilities.
    • Valid RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India) registration.

2. Associate Professor (Consultant)

  • Essential Qualifications:
    • Physiotherapy: Post Graduate Degree (Full-time course) from a recognized institute with a minimum of 8 years of teaching or research experience.
    • Medical Science โ€“ Material & Development: Post Graduate Degree in Prosthetics & Orthotics and 8 years of teaching/research experience with valid RCI registration.
    • Special Education: Post Graduate Degree with at least 50% marks, M.Ed. in Special Education with at least 55% marks, Ph.D. in Special Education or Education with emphasis on Special Education, and at least 8 years of teaching experience (5 years in a specific disability area).
  • Desirable Qualifications:
    • Ph.D. in the respective discipline.
    • Experience working with persons with multiple disabilities.
    • Publications in indexed journals relevant to Special Education.

Terms and Conditions of Engagement

  1. Contractual Basis: The engagement for these roles is strictly on a contractual basis. The initial term of appointment will not exceed three years but may be extended up to a maximum of five years based on performance and approval by the Governing Council.
  2. Salary and Benefits:
    • The positions come with a fixed monthly salary, which is not subject to additional allowances.
    • An annual increment of 3% is permissible during the term of the contract.
    • Paid leave of absence at a rate of 1.5 days for each completed month of service is allowed.
  3. Performance Appraisal: Contract renewal is contingent on performance appraisal, initiated by the Director of the respective National Institute and reviewed by the Joint Secretary and Chairperson of the Executive Council.
  4. Location of Posting: Selected candidates may be posted at NIEPMD, Chennai, or any of its sub-centers and outreach centers across India.
  5. Termination of Contract: The contractual engagement may be terminated by the competent authority at any time without assigning any reasons, with a notice period of 30 days. Similarly, the consultant can resign with a 30-day notice period or by compensating for the notice period.
