The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has announced the recruitment for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) positions at the DRDO Young Scientist Laboratory-Artificial Intelligence (DYSL-AI), Bengaluru. About DYSL-AI
DRDO Young Scientist Lab-Artificial Intelligence (DYSL-AI) is a dedicated unit of young scientists working on artificial intelligence innovations to accelerate the adoption of AI in various applications. The lab collaborates with eminent academic institutions like IITs, IISc Bangalore, and IIITs to drive advancements in deep learning, natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, and reinforcement learning, among others.
Eligibility Criteria for DRDO JRF 2024
To apply for the JRF positions at DYSL-AI, candidates must meet the following minimum eligibility criteria:
- Educational Qualification:
- Graduate degree in a professional course (B.E/B.Tech) in first division with NET/GATE, or
- Postgraduate degree (M.E/M.Tech) in first division at both graduate and postgraduate levels.
- Desirable Qualifications:
- Strong fundamentals in problem-solving, algorithm design, and complexity analysis.
- Proficiency in major programming languages like Python, Java, or C++.
- Knowledge of machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, NLP, and reinforcement learning is preferred.
- Experience with AI software libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, and TensorRT is highly desirable.
- Age Limit:
- The upper age limit is 26 years as of the interview date.
- Age relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates.
JRF Stipend and Benefits
- Monthly Stipend: ₹37,000 + 30% HRA (Total emoluments: ₹48,100)
- Accommodation may be provided based on availability, in which case HRA will be deducted.
- The tenure is initially two years, extendable based on performance, with possible elevation to Senior Research Fellow (SRF) for an additional two or three years.

Selection Process
- Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted based on their GATE score or academic performance.
- Online Coding Exam: Tentatively scheduled for 19th January, shortlisted candidates will appear for an online coding test.
- Interview: Qualified candidates will be called for a personal interview at DYSL-AI, Bengaluru, or through video conferencing. Final selection will be based on interview performance.
