VACANCIES IN SPORTS QUOTA IN RAILWAYS
278. SHRI HARBHAJAN SINGH:
Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state:
(a) whether Government is aware of large scale vacancies under sports quota in Railways ;
(b) if so, the details thereof, including the number of vacancies at present;
(c) whether the Ministry has taken any step to fill up these vacancies; and
(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

MINISTER OF RAILWAYS, COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI ASHWINI VAISHNAW)
(a) to (d) Sportspersons in Indian Railways are recruited against the existing vacancies of various departments subject to fulfilment of minimum sports norms, educational qualification and prescribed age criteria. Maximum number of posts/berths, which can be filled by sportspersons in a financial year in Zonal Railways / Production Units, are as under:

Sportspersons are recruited through Open Advertisement and Talent Scouting method subject to fulfilment of minimum sports norms, educational qualification and prescribed age criteria.
