Central government will raise minimum pay to Rs 20,000 – 7th Pay Commission
7th Pay Commission: Centre to raise minimum pay from current Rs 18,000 to Rs 20,000 ahead of 2019 elections
New Delhi: Central government will raise the minimum pay to Rs 20,000 from current Rs 18,000, which was recommended by the 7th Pay Commission, the finance ministry officials said on Wednesday, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi tries to defuse discontent among central government employees ahead of elections in 2019.
The new minimum pay will be boosted fitment factor to 2.85 times of basic pay of 6th pay commission, it will reaches minimum pay near to Rs 20,000 for the lowest level employees compares with current fitment factor 2.57 times, which was recommended by the 7th Pay Commission, the officials added.
The central government employees unions have been demanding minimum pay Rs 26,000 instead of Rs 18,000 and asked to raising fitment factor 3.68 times from current 2.57 times after implementation of the 7th Pay Commission’s recommendations.
Earlier, The Sen Times had reported that the central government was set to raise minimum pay in the range of Rs 19,000-20,000 per month due to growing central government employees discontent.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley also promised on June 30, 2016 to hike the minimum pay of the central government employees. He reiterated it in Rajya Sabha on July 19, 2016.
Hence, the promise of Jaitley is not-too-distant to come into reality, future should be enough to prove for keeping his promise.
