Major Overhaul in CGHS Services with Launch of C-DAC Developed Health Management Information System

In a significant move to modernize healthcare services for central government employees and pensioners, the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) will roll out its new Health Management Information System (HMIS) developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) starting April 28, 2025. This overhaul replaces the two-decade-old software with a modern, transparent, and efficient digital platform.

Transition Timeline and Service Suspension

April 26, 2025: All CGHS services will be suspended for the final transition.
April 28, 2025: The new system will go live across India.
Old websites deactivated: www.cghs.gov.in and www.cghs.nic.in will shut down.
New official portal: www.cghs.mohfw.gov.in
Parallel run: Pharmacy services will continue seamlessly using both old and new systems temporarily to avoid disruptions.

What Will Change for CGHS Beneficiaries?

1. Simplified Payment System via Bharat Kosh Integration

No manual selection or data entry on Bharat Kosh.
Contribution verification is automated — reducing errors and refund hassles.
Important:
- All unpaid applications as of April 27, 2025, will lapse.
- Fresh applications must be submitted exclusively via the new portal.

2. Public Dealing Suspension on April 26

All CGHS Wellness Centres will remain closed for public interaction during the transition.

3. New Identity Verification Process

Department identity for serving employees will now be linked through PAO (Pay and Accounts Office) and DDO (Drawing and Disbursing Officer) codes.
Beneficiaries must refer to their salary slips for the correct codes.
Until complete onboarding of departments, physical submission at CGHS Card Sections will continue.

4. Mandatory Password Reset

On first login, all beneficiaries must reset their passwords.
Real-time SMS and email alerts for application status updates will be introduced.

5. Mobile App Support

Beneficiaries can access services conveniently through the myCGHS mobile app.

New Features and Service Improvements

PAN-based unique ID for beneficiaries — no more duplication.
Pre-payment application scrutiny to catch errors early.

Online services: Card transfers, dependent addition, card type changes — all without visiting the CGHS offices.

Full migration of existing records — no loss of pharmacy, referral, or card data.

Master Trainers have been deployed across CGHS Additional Director offices and major Wellness Centres.
User manuals and a dedicated helpdesk are available on the CGHS portal and app.

Important Advisory for Beneficiaries and Departments

From April 28, 2025, CGHS contribution payments can only be made through www.cghs.mohfw.gov.in.
Payments via www.bharatkosh.gov.in will no longer be accepted.
Applications in progress without payment by April 27 will lapse. Fresh applications are needed via the new portal.
Beneficiaries aged above 18 years must link their PAN with their CGHS Beneficiary ID.
Corrections should be made promptly in case of mismatches.
Departments are advised to initiate onboarding processes with CGHS (further instructions to be issued).
