CBSE Class 9 performance will not be carried forward to Class 10
Central Board of Secondary Education CBSE not to carry forward the performance of students in Class IX to Class X – Until Now, marks scored by students in Class 9 is mentioned Class X Grade Sheet
The Central Board of Secondary Education has decided to discontinue the practice of mentioning the Class IX scores of students while announcing the Class X results.
The CBSE, which has made Class X board exams compulsory from 2018, had till last year mentioned the Class IX performance of students, although it was not counted in the overall results.
“After due consideration, it has been decided that this year onwards Board will not include Class-IX result in Gradesheet cum Certificate of Performance of Class-X. This provision will be applicable to both Board based and school based candidates,” a circular said.
The CBSE has also decided to discontinue the practice of giving details in the mark sheet of students’ performance in co-scholastics areas like projects, assignments, art, music and sports that carried 40 per cent weightage.
It will ask the schools concerned to send the exact grade point score of the students in the co-scholastic areas which will be included in the overall score while announcing the results.
The board has already announced that from next year, the performance in scholastic areas will have 80 per cent weightage.
Internal assessments will carry 20 per cent weightage.
Since the board is going towards compulsory board examination, it is making such changes. When the board examination was compulsory before 2011, the results only reflected the performance in the written test.
