Revised List of Classification of Cities for HRA – Updated as on May 2015 on the basis of Cabinet’s Decision for upgrading certain cities for the purpose of higher house rent allowance

Revised List of Classification Cities for HRA – Govt has recently upgraded / re-classified certain cities for the purpose of grant of higher House Rent Allowance (HRA) to Central Government Employees including Defence Personnel and Railway Employees

Based on the recommendations of the Sixth Central Pay Commission, the earlier classification of cities has been revised viz. A-1 to “X”, A, B-1 & B-2 to “Y” and C & Unclassified to “Z”. In determining the revised classification the revised classification, the population of Urban Agglomeration area of the city has been taken into consideration.

Taking in to account the latest Union Cabinet’s Decision for Re-classification of Cities for the purpose of HRA we have compiled revised State wise list / Table of Cites which are classified as X and Y Cites for the Purpose of HRA from time to time. It may please be noted that in respect of the latest union cabinet decision for re-classification of cities on 30.05.2015, orders are yet to be issued by the concerned Ministry (Ministry of Finance)
