Non-gazetted police pensioners hold protest

JAMMU: Amid slogans in favour of their issues, large number of non-gazetted police pensioners assembled at Exhibition Ground under the banner of Non-Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum and held a protest against government.
Protesters raised slogans in support of their demands, which included implementation of Court order on SRO-14 benefits, reservation for children of retired cops, free medical treatment and medicines for them, Rs 50,000 from DG Fund for marriage of daughters of retired cops etc.

They were also demanding one-rank one pension on the pattern of army.

The protest was addressed by Ajit Singh, President of the Forum who condemned the Government Order No. 229-F of 2014 of 17th October, 2014 and alleged that government has played a joke with the retired police men.

Ajit lamented that no relief has been provided to the retired police personnel, who were fighting their case since 1996. He demanded release of Rs. 5,93,25,000 in favour of retired ASIs and HCs.

Protesters appealed to the government to act on the issues highlighted and take necessary action for the benefit of retirees who are on the road to get their own rights and dues.

Anna Hazare to address rally at Jammu on March 7

Social activist Anna Hazare is to visit Jammu and Kashmir before launching an agitation over Jan Lokpal and farmers issues in New Delhi next month, Tarun Uppal and Manjot Singh Kohl State Coordinators of Anna Hazare’s Satyagrah told reporters here on Monday.

“We have invited him (Hazare) to visit Jammu and he has accepted the invite. We are expecting him to address a public meeting here before the March 23 rally in Delhi,” they said.
They said Anna Hazare is to address a Jan Sabha at Dusshera Ground Gandhi Nagar on March 7 from 10:00 AM onwards followed by the inauguration of Jan Sampark Karyalaya at Talab Tillo Jammu.

They requested the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir specially the youth and other people to come forward and voluntarily support the movement against corruption, competent Lokpal and farmers’ injustice.

Kamal Choudhary, Ravi Razdan, Parshotam Singh, Manik Uppal and Devinder Singh Jamwal were also present in the press conference.
