General Election in Delhi and By-Elections in Tamil Nadu & Uttar Pradesh: Paid Holiday Announced
The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions, under the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), has issued an official memorandum declaring February 5, 2025 (Wednesday) as a paid holiday. This is to facilitate voting for the General Election to the Legislative Assembly of the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi and the bye-elections for two Assembly constituencies each in Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.

- Scope of Elections:
- General Election to the Legislative Assembly of Delhi.
- Bye-elections in:
- Tamil Nadu: 98-Erode (East) Assembly constituency.
- Uttar Pradesh: 273-Milkipur (SC) Assembly constituency.
- Closing of Offices and Establishments:
- All Central Government Offices, including Industrial Establishments, in the notified areas where the elections are scheduled will remain closed on the day of polling.
- This closure is applicable to ensure maximum voter participation and adherence to election guidelines.
- Leave Provisions for Employees:
- Special Casual Leave will be granted to employees who are voters in the concerned constituencies, enabling them to cast their votes.
- Employees registered as voters but located outside the constituency due to work may also avail of this special leave if they are part of a Central Government Organization or Industrial Establishment.
