Government of India Announces Contract-Based Recruitment for Senior Technical Staff
In a recent move to strengthen the technical workforce in key areas, the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) to the Government of India has issued a Vacancy Circular for the recruitment of Senior Technical Staff. The recruitment will be on a contract basis for an initial period of one year, extendable based on the requirements of the office and performance assessments.
This recruitment drive is aimed at providing technical manpower to the Empowered Technology Group (ETG), which advises the government on technology policy, research and development priorities, and other strategic initiatives in critical technological areas.

The Office of PSA is seeking two Senior Technical Staff members to serve under the ETG for the following areas:
- Energy (1 Post)
- Critical Technology and Security (1 Post)
Selected candidates will work on various assignments and projects that involve policy research, consultation with expert groups, and coordination of technology-based studies. Their roles will be critical in shaping technological advancements and security frameworks for the country.
Remuneration
The salary for these positions ranges between ₹1,20,000 to ₹1,45,000 per month, depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidates. However, it’s important to note that candidates appointed on this short-term contract will not be entitled to typical allowances such as House Rent Allowance (HRA), Dearness Allowance (DA), or Transportation Allowance (TA).
Essential Qualifications
Candidates interested in applying must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or a Mathematics-related field.
- Experience: At least six years of experience in fields such as industry, academia, research, policy-making, or other relevant technical areas.
- Age Limit: The upper age limit for applicants is 45 years as of the vacancy circular’s release date.
Job Responsibilities
The selected Senior Technical Staff will be expected to engage in the following duties (as detailed in the Job Description provided in Annexure-I):
- Preparation of policy papers and research briefs.
- Coordination of policy studies and other special projects.
- Facilitating the creation of specialized databases.
- Interaction with consultative groups for expert advice on various technology-related topics.
These roles will directly contribute to policy-making and technological innovations in areas of national importance.

Selection Process

Terms of Employment
The contract is initially for one year but is extendable by another year based on performance and requirements. However, the engagement may be terminated at any point with a one-month prior notice, as per the terms of the contract.
