It is a great tool indeed. I have following concerns. (1) The software does not seem to take into account some categories of employees, for instance medical officers, who receive 25% NPA. (2) It would be better if a link is provided at section 89(1) relief so that the user is directly taken to a page where 89(1) benefits can be calculated. The output from there can be directly taken into this field. Thanks for the great software tool.

    Mr.Jasbir Singh Sandhu.
    All are goods suggestions mr.Jasbir
For Point No:1, you have to show your pension in the pension field and get deduction under Section 10(18). I have included field for section 10 deduction now. You can show your entire pension as deduction under section 10(18). Keep us informed if you have any problem in this

For point No: 2, tax slab adopted for deduction from 6cpc arrears differs from person to person. So the entry sheet will be more complex if we seek details on tax percentage adopted for tds on 6cpc arrears. Instead you could enter arrears portion (without deducting tax) in 6cpc arrears field and the tax deducted in tds (tax already deducted) field.

For point No: 3, Due to space constraint creation of additional fields may not be possible. sorry for the inconvenience. I think you can enter the pay (received from pvt company) before tax deduction in other pay field and enter the tax deducted in tds (tax already deducted) field. But you have to provide the annual pay here by adding pay for all 12 months.

Good and useful tool.  But, where is the field to enter interest on house loan which is allowed as deduction under Section 24(b).

    Reply

    admin Reply:

Interest on house loan is the loss incurred on house property and rental income earned if any after getting rebate for maintenance is the income earned on house property. calculate these two and if you are getting negative value show it as loss. Otherwise show it as an income. This is what income tax provisions says as far as house property in concerned. Check this calculator for more details

we are extremely sorry. We did not provide any separate option for such transport allowance. I want Mr.Manjit Singh or any readers to suggest me, on the quantum of TA payable to physically challenged friends. If Rs.3200 is payable for a normal person in a particular city, they are eligible for Rs.6400. Am I right? Pl suggest so that I can make necessary modification soon..

    Sir,
Just now i had registered myself at gconnect web portal for calculation of it. It is very much helpful for individuals for calculating their it and update as and when necessary and so also one can obtain a hard copy if he/ she wishes. Now i find one problem rather two, they are :1)I am a state govt employee, I have an increment date in June instead of July as in the case of Central Govt staff. I find difficult to edit the June col along with edit of DA and HRA coloumns.
    2) There is no mention of House BUilding Advance /loan interest . There is mention of HBA principal only. I hope u understand.

The software is very helpful  and nicely developed but needs to be corrected in some places mentioned below:-
    1. For the purpose of HRA calculation, salary means basic plus DA. In your software DA has not been considered.
    2. For donation made to other organisation except PMRY, deduction should be on the basis of 50% of the donated amount and not on 100%.

For the purpose of calculation taxable portion of HRA, only basic pay (pay in pay band and grade pay) needs to be taken

My questions are: 1. Is the portions of arrears relevant to previous years could be distributed to the annual income of that particular year ?

    2. I have started my service from August 2007 (MHRD) and received 6th CPC arrear of Rs. 31616(40%) and Rs. 47424(60%) during FY 2009-10. How this arrear can be distributed to the relevant Fin. Years ? 3. Which form Number can be used to calculate income tax for the year 2009-10? 4. What is the meaning of net taxable income ?
is it includes the standard deduction or not?

    admin Reply:

    @Ambresh Kumar
    1. Relief under Section 89(1) is the difference between tax payable had the entire arrears is accounted in the current year and the tax payable if the arrears amount is distributed to previous years. This relief can be deducted from the tax calculated from the income including arrears this year.
    2. If the both of the arrears are received by you this year, calculate the total of the same and then distribute this amount to the relevant previous years.
    3. If you want register you can use the login version of the Gconect income tax tool. Else use the other one.
    4. Net taxable income=gross salary+arrears-deductions at source such as interest on housing load-HRA (if applicable)-savings under Section 80C, CCD etc
