Methodology for rounding off

MoF vide OM No.1/1/2008-IC dated 29.01.2009 clarifies as under
In revised pay structure, paise should be ignored, but any amount of a rupee or more should be rounded off to next multiple of 10. To illustrate, if the amount of increment comes to Rs.1900.70 paise then the amount will be rounded off to Rs.1900; if the amount of increment works out to be Rs.1901, then it will be rounded off to Rs.1910.

Thanks for the information. Actually, I was thinking that if the incrment works out to Rs. 100 (for example), it would be 110 as the rule says "next multiple of 10". Now, as per this clarification, it seems even if the increment comes to say 100.99 then it would be 100 only.

In spite of my sincere effert, I could not find the "OM No.1/1/2008-IC dated 29.01.2009" any where.
Therefore, kindly send the link of said OM to m_jyn@yahoo.com.
However, if such OM is not actually exists, the actual meaning of "rounding off to the next higher multiple of 10" means even if it is 1900.10 it will be 1910. Please note the wording"higher and next multiple".

Dear friends
The circular I have, must have been received by all the Ministeries/Departments. It is not a hidden one. I am surprised that no one have seen it. I have tried to send a copy of this to all my friends who have send their mail address to me. I would like to request to all my friends to post a copy of this OM on this forum for the help of others

Yope....i have received the copy of said OM from my PAO Office, Bhavnagar, Gujarat. The PAO office got it from their HQ. So, Jite**** is right. The Circular Do EXIST.

It is heartening to note the gconnect has helped large number of the users in correct interpretation of the Rules. However careful one might be, scope exists for mis-interpretation of the rules. The correct interpretation of the rounding-off will have recurring effect for everybody on the positive side!
